The Diploma in Civil Engineering Programme is designed to provide the engineering profession with skilled and competent civil engineering technical assistants. It also paves the way for continuing education for the students. It prepares students with a solid foundation not only in theoretical concepts but also in engineering skills. This programme offers students a wide range of civil engineering courses such as structures, geotechnical engineering, traffic and highway engineering, water and wastewater and construction management.
- PEO 1 : Apply knowledge to produce an acceptable quality of works in the field of civil engineering and technology.
- PEO 2 : Contribute as skillful assistant/associate Civil Engineers with desires to grow intellectually and professionally within local and global working environment.
- PEO 3 : Stay inform and adapt to emerging technologies, contemporary issues and future challenges in career with professionalism, ethical and high integrity.
PLO 1-Knowledge: Apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, and civil engineering fundamentals and engineering specialisation to wide practical procedures and practices..
PLO 2- Problem analysis: Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to civil engineering field.
PLO 3- Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
PLO4- Investigation: Conduct investigations of well-defined problems, locate and search relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements.
PLO 5- Modern Tool Usage: Apply appropriate techniques, resources or modern engineering and IT tools to well-defined engineering problems, with an awareness of the limitations.
PLO 6- The Engineer & Society: Demonstrate knowledge of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering practice and solutions to well-defined engineering problems.
PLO 7-Environment & Sustainability: Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of engineering technician practices in the solution of well-defined engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts.
PLO 8- Ethics: Understand and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering technician practices.
PLO 9- Individual and teamwork: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member in diverse technical teams.
PLO 10- Communication: Communicate effectively on well-defined engineering activities with the engineering community and society at large..
PLO 11- Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles, as a member or leader in a technical team and to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.
PLO 12- Lifelong Learning: Recognise the need for, and have the ability to engage in independent updating in the context of specialised technical knowledge.
- Secondary School Certificate (SSC) / O-Level / equivalent. At least THREE (3) subjects passed with minimum C GRADE
- A minimum score of Band 5.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
OR A minimum score of 61 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL-IBT);
OR A minimum score of 500 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL);
OR Obtained a minimum of Band 3 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
(Candidates who do not possess English language qualification (TOEFL 500 / TOEFL-IBT 61 / IELTS
5.0 / MUET Band 3 or equivalent) are required to pass Preparatory Intensive English (PIE) programme before commencing Diploma Programme)
Note:
i. Candidates must NOT be physically handicapped which will complicate practical works.
ii. Candidates are NOT color blind
- Minimum C GRADE / Marks 50% / CGPA 2.00 in following three subjects :
• Mathematics
• Two (2) any other Science / Technology subjects related to the field
